ArchyPress MCP server

Publish to ArchyPress from your AI assistant

Connect ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot to your workspace. Your assistant drafts posts, builds pages and creates images and video. You choose what it may change, and what goes live.

Capabilities

What your AI assistant can do in ArchyPress

Ask in plain language. Your assistant uses ArchyPress tools to do the work in your workspace, and everything it creates waits for you as a draft.

Write

  • Create and edit posts

Start a draft from a title and a brief, update the text, excerpt, categories, tags and SEO fields, and read any post back to check it.

  • Rich articles, not plain text

Build the body from headings, lists, quotes, images, video, embeds, cards, image sliders and calls to action. Replace the body or add sections to the end.

  • AI drafts and rewrites

Ask for a full draft from a topic, audience and tone. Rewrite a heading, write a paragraph for a heading or improve a passage, shorter, longer or in another tone.

  • Pages too

Create and update pages, ask for an AI outline of sections, and generate a single section when you need one.

  • Start from a template

List your workspace's post templates and use one as the starting point.

Media

  • AI images

Generate a feature image or an inline image for the post you are working on, in square, portrait or landscape format. It is saved to your media library.

  • Edit an image with AI

Change an existing image from a written instruction.

  • AI video

Turn a prompt into a short clip of 4, 8 or 12 seconds, optionally starting from an image. Your assistant can suggest video prompts from the post itself.

  • Generation that keeps going

Image and video jobs run in the background. Your assistant can check progress, list finished jobs and place a finished video in the post.

  • Your own files

Upload images and video to the media library and set any image or video as a post's feature media.

  • Alt text included

Get a filename, title and alt text suggested for generated media.

  • House style for visuals

Read and update your workspace's image and video style presets, so generated media matches your brand.

Publish

  • Publish when you say so

On an admin connection, your assistant publishes a post or page, or takes it back to draft. On a writer connection, it gets the draft ready and a person publishes.

  • Tidy up pages

Archive pages you no longer need through an admin connection.

Workspace

  • Check the connection

Confirm which publisher, workspace and roles the assistant is using before it changes anything.

  • See what is there

List posts and pages by draft, published or archived, and open any of them by its ID.

Publishing control

You decide who publishes

Every connection works through one publisher, and the publisher's role decides what your assistant may do. Pick the mode that fits how your team works.

  • Writer connection

    AI writes, a person approves

Your assistant creates and edits drafts, builds pages and generates media. A person reviews the draft in ArchyPress and publishes it.

  • Admin connection

    Your assistant publishes too

Everything a writer connection does, plus publishing, taking posts and pages back to draft, and archiving pages. Keep tool approvals on in your client to confirm each step.

  • Both

Draft with one, publish with the other

Keep a writer and an admin connection side by side. Your assistant drafts through the writer connection, you review, then it publishes through the admin connection when you ask.

New accounts start with a writer publisher. To let your assistant publish, open Admin → Publishers and either select admin under Edit channel on your publisher, or create a second publisher with the admin role. Workspace owners and admins can give a publisher the admin role. A role change applies to existing connections straight away.

Set up

Connect your client in a few minutes

ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot in VS Code connect to the hosted server and sign you in with ArchyPress.

Every new ArchyPress account can connect an AI assistant right after signup. Your first publisher, a writer, is created when you set up your workspace; add more in Admin → Publishers.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, create a custom app with an MCP server. Your plan or workspace must allow custom connections; some workspaces require Developer mode.
  2. Name it ArchyPress and enter the server address below.
  3. Choose OAuth as the authentication method, with dynamic client registration where offered.
  4. Sign in to ArchyPress, choose your publisher and select Allow access.
  5. Add ArchyPress to a chat. Keep tool approvals on and approve publishing yourself.

Authentication: OAuth

Tip: Do not paste a publisher key into ChatGPT. It signs in with ArchyPress instead.

Try: “Use ArchyPress to check which workspace you are connected to and list my latest post. Don't change anything.”

GitHub Copilot in VS Code

  1. Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and enter the server address. Or add the snippet below to .vscode/mcp.json.
  2. Start the server. VS Code opens your browser to sign in to ArchyPress.
  3. Choose your publisher and select Allow access.
  4. In Copilot Chat, select the ArchyPress tools in the tool picker.
  5. Ask Copilot to check the connection before it writes anything.

}

Tip: No key or Authorization header is needed. VS Code handles sign-in for you.

Security

Your assistant gets only the access you grant

The hosted server uses OAuth sign-in. Your assistant never sees your ArchyPress password, and you can cut it off at any time.

  1. You sign in to ArchyPress. Your client sends you to ArchyPress in the browser. If you are not signed in, you sign in first.

  2. You choose a publisher. The connection is tied to one publisher and the workspace it belongs to. The assistant works only there.

  3. You choose the access. Read access lets the assistant read posts and pages. Write access lets it create and edit content. Clients ask for read access unless they request more.

  4. The publisher's role decides the rest. With write access, a writer publisher lets the assistant draft and edit, and an admin publisher also lets it publish, take content back to draft and archive pages. You can change the role in Admin → Publishers at any time.

  5. You can disconnect at any time. In Admin → Publishers, select Disconnect under the publisher. The app's access stops; your other connections and keys are not affected.

Short-lived access
Access tokens last one hour and are renewed in the background; each renewal replaces the old one. A connection that is not used for 30 days must sign in again.
Stored safely
ArchyPress stores tokens only in hashed form.
Secure sign-in flow
OAuth with PKCE, so a stolen sign-in code cannot be used by another app.
